"Α great source of creativity"

Athens, 23.10.2015: Official visit of the French President, Mr. François Hollande, was held at Corallia headquarters in Maroussi, in the context of an official visit to Athens. Mr. Hollande, accompanied with a French delegation of Ministers and entrepreneurs, had the opportunity to meet young entrepreneurs of the innovation business ecosystem which consists of over 200 high tech companies and is supported by Corallia over the last 10 years. More specifically, Mr. Hollande met the executives of the gi-Cluster, the mi-Cluster and the si-Cluster companies, as well as startups of the "egg - enter•grow•go", a corporate social responsibility initiative by Eurobank, designed and implemented in cooperation with Corallia.

Prof. Vassilios Makios, General Director, welcomed F. Hollande and informed his excellency on the Franco-Hellenic cooperation in the fields of microelectronics, space technologies and creative industries over the past years. He also demonstrated that France and Greece can collaborate aiming at creating new jobs, developing joint research projects and attracting capital investments.

Within the framework of Mr. Hollande's visit, the mi-Cluster signed a Memorandum of Understanding (ΜοU) with the Minalogic cluster in Grenoble, extending the strategic cooperation between Greece and France.

During his speech, the French President François Hollande said: "Corallia is a great source of creativity and there is a need to operate clusters worldwide. The collaboration is extremely important both for Greece and France, not only in the field of culture, but also in research and development. The signed agreements will strengthen friendship between the two countries and will empower cooperation among young people in Greece and France".

On behalf of Corallia, Prof. V. Makios characteristically mentioned: "The visit of the President of the French Republic at a2-innohub marks an even more active year for our bilateral cooperation. We are very proud of what we have accomplished along with our partners. We will continue to build value chains that will provide wealth in the country".

The event was also attended by representatives from the Greek public sector, the Eurobank Group, the Hellenic Association of Space Industry (HASI) and the Hellenic Semiconductor Industry Association (HSIA) attended the event.

The event was supported by the French Embassy in Greece.

Corallia's activities are financed by the private sector, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and National funds under the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF), the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship, the Regional Operational Programmes, the Hellenic Public Investments Programme, the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme and donations from the private sector, foundations and other benefactors.
