Athens, 21st February 2017: si-Cluster welcomes a new member, the Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSLab) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). The main objectives of RSLab are education, research and development in the areas of Remote Sensing and Earth Observation.
The lab's research interests span a wide range of topics like the handling, management and analysis of geospatial big data, the design, development and evaluation of cutting-edge, multimodal, data processing systems for a variety of sensors and platforms. State-of-the-art machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision, etc techniques are designed and developed for the analysis. The RSLab has coordinated and participated in several national and European research programs, while its members have published numerous papers in top-rank, international scientific journals and conferences.
Mr. Konstantinos Karantzalos, Assistant Professor at the Remote Sensing Laboratory, commented: "Our participation in si-Cluster forms a key opportunity for establishing further cooperation between universities with the Greek industry and business sector in space technology and applications. Moreover, the coordinated si-Cluster’s actions and international strategic partnerships, will enable the more effective exploitation of RSLab significant expertise as well as foster the development of innovative, cutting edge-solutions regarding both basic and applied research".
